INCONSCIENTE (UNCONCIOUS) Series
The UNCONSCIOUS series consists of the transposition to the physical world of imaginary figures brought by dreams, which insistently invade my mind. These figures, full of nervous vibrations, are momentarily stabilized when transposed to the real and concrete world in the form of two-dimensional sculptures, until a new mental resurgence in which they manifest the need to materialize in other ways. The process is completed only when the exhaustion of its expression is reached. They can then die and be reborn in the imaginary state, ensuring their continuity as the cycle of life.
Metal, the material chosen for the construction of these pieces, offers malleability, resistance, conductivity and transformation. Iron sheets are cut into small fragments, which in turn are connected with pieces of metal bar and solder, in order to compose different flat structures, light and agile shapes. They are like cells that together constitute a particular organism. In this process of construction and reorganization, as in nature, the multiple combinations also change into different formats, and result in new creations, new beings. The small fragments are micro mutant units, which pulsate, diversify and multiply, composing the COSMOS. The works resulting from the process have a lightness that contrasts with the hard and heavy nature of the material used.
With this series of wall sculptures, I seek to introduce a small parallel between science and human thought, inspired from the creative processes of nature.
